Micro Piles, Rock Anchors, Tiebacks, Soil Nail and Shotcrete, Rockfall Netting, Soldier Pile and Lagging & Sheet Piles

More than a Name: Maine Drilling & Blasting Offers Geotechnical Services

We do more than just drilling and blasting. MD&B has a fleet of specialty equipment and a dedicated group of experienced personnel that install micropiles, rock anchors, tiebacks, soil nail and shotcrete, rockfall netting, soldier pile and lagging, and sheet piles for a variety of construction needs. Foundation components requiring stabilization and structural connections to bedrock is a specialty that complements our drilling and blasting services.

What are Geotechnical Services?

Geotechnical services are key to building stable foundations and optimizing safety for infrastructure projects. Geotechnical services can produce the right foundation for a project, the appropriate retaining wall that will last throughout the lifecycle of a job, and support rock excavation. These services involve specialized investigations, testing, and engineering solutions. They help identify ground properties, assess risks, and construct appropriate foundations for structures such as bridges, tunnels, dams, and high-rise buildings.

At Maine Drilling and Blasting, the foundation components we install improve the load capacity for new and existing foundations. Our geotechnical services stabilize jointed rock for foundation excavation and slopes. These components secure rock cuts, tunnels, foundations, deep excavations, transmission lines, cell towers, and wind towers. Guy anchors provide load stabilization for transmission lines or other structures. Micro piles can provide a cost-effective solution to increase capacity for a variety of different structures while causing less vibration than other deep foundation solutions.

Our Experienced Team

Our operations team includes experienced superintendents, foremen, drillers, and laborers. Our trained group of engineers, with the operations personnel, successfully manage many complex contract specifications, submittals, schedules, quality control, and design consultants. When it comes to geotechnical services, our focus is building an efficient project on time.

Don't take our word for it though, hear from Nathan S., Senior Construction Manager for Kubricky Construction Corporation. Kubricky expanded its relationship with MD&B to include Geotechnical Services work with micropiles.

Your Trusted Team

Maine Drilling & Blasting has come to be recognized as the drilling and blasting contractor of choice for many construction projects. MD&B has installed over 150,000 feet of micropiles, 200,000 feet of rock anchors, and has stabilized over 300,000 square feet of rock slopes.

We have successfully completed projects at marine terminals, rock stabilization sites, and water treatment plants, and foundation support for bridges, buildings, and communication tower sites. Our specialized personnel and equipment allow us to construct projects of any size. We can complete all aspects of the job, starting with drilling, and through the grouting and load-testing phases. Our completed projects have included drilling up to 24-inch diameter drilling and load testing to over 700 kips.

We perform in diverse conditions such as the remote access nature of transmission line right-of-ways to wind site ridgelines, and the tight work areas of existing communication tower sites and urban areas.

No Energy, No Problem

Outside the energy sector, we have performed numerous projects at marine terminals, rock stabilization sites, water treatment plants, building foundation support, bridges, and communication tower sites. Our depth in personnel and equipment allows us to construct projects large and small. We self-perform our activities starting with the drilling, through the grouting and load testing activities. Our completed contracts have included 12-inch diameter drilling and load testing to over 700 kips.

We perform in diverse conditions such as the remote access nature of transmission line right-of-ways to wind site ridgelines, and the tight work areas of existing communication tower sites and urban areas.
